STORAGE PROGRAM

BENCO Electric Cooperative offers a storage program as a method of cost-savings and is available to legacy BENCO members. Members who allow BENCO to control their energy loads are eligible for a discounted electric rate of $0.051 kWh. Members must allow BENCO to control daily from 7:00 am - 11:00 pm.

Eligible energy loads include electric thermal storage, storage water heat (minimum 100 gallons), and electric in-floor heat. Additional systems / appliances may qualify.

Members should hire an electrician to wire the meter socket in addition to any necessary control wiring. BENCO will follow-up by installing a receiver onto the junction box, installed by the electrician, on the exterior of the building. Through the receiver, BENCO will control (turn off) the load each day, from 7:00 am - 11:00 pm.

BENEFITS OF THE STORAGE PROGRAM

  • Receive a reduced cost of electricity by using off-peak energy.

  • Assist BENCO to reduce peak demand.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE STORAGE PROGRAM

  • All systems / appliances must be hardwired.

  • All systems / appliances can be sub-metered or parallel metered.
